Cozy Autumn Favorites
Baking
Does it get more autumnal and holiday season-y than baking all the things?
In recent years, November Cakes (from The Scorpio Races) have become one of my go-to recipes for autumn baking. Last year, I altered the recipe a bit to use butter and brown sugar as the filling, and it was sooo good.
Reading
Especially reading outside on the swing, if the weather permits. Make it a foggy morning with a pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate to drink, and it’s practically perfect reading weather!
Some of my favorite books for fall reading: Frankenstein; The Scorpio Races; The Hobbit; Jane Eyre; Wuthering Heights; The Cask of Amontillado; Anne of Green Gables
Adventuring
Sometimes it’s a walk through my neighborhood, and other times its a day trip to see the leaves. I’m also hoping to go on a picnic this year.
Movie Marathons
As a kid, I rarely missed the holiday cartoons, beginning with the Halloween specials, so when fall rolls around I start thinking of all the things I want to watch the capture the mood.
Some of my favorite fall movies and specials: It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown; Halloweentown; Dan in Real Life; Penelope; Wuthering Heights (2009); Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
Autumn Playlists
I started making playlists for autumn in 2020, sort of as a way to make things a little cheerier. I make Christmas playlists each year, so I thought, why not one for fall?
Having cozy music playing in the background while working or reading is definitely a nice way to add a touch of fall to everyday tasks. My autumn playlists tend to be a mix of classic jazz and cozy acoustics. I also love coffeeshop ambience videos for background music!
