The Whatsoever Cafe | September 2021

For a while now, I’ve been brainstorming ideas for posts and how to bring a little more life to Lovely Whatsoevers, and I wanted to do something more interactive—something to offer a bit of inspiration and community, but still casual enough that it’s easy to do when life gets busy.

And so today, I’d like to invite you to the grand opening of the Whatsoever Cafe!

What is the Whatsoever Cafe?
A once-monthly blog post meet up here at Lovely Whatsoevers where we can gather in the comments and talk about writing victories and struggles, what’s inspiring us, and to just have fun talking about the writing life! The virtual doors will open on the second Saturday of each month, but you can join anytime!

So find a seat at the virtual table, grab your favorite (real or virtual) cozy drink, and let’s chat!

What you’re working on:
My main project is, as it has usually been, The Treasonist’s Son. It is the sequel to The Assassin’s Daughter, and is one of the trickier writing projects I have, but I am determined that it will shape up into a decent book one of these days. :)

A writing victory:
I’ve been able to make my daily writing goals nearly every day in September so far!

A writing struggle:
Structure and pacing have been a challenge, but I’ve been better about not getting stuck in a rut of hyperfocusing on just how perfect these things are and then just...not writing at all while I panic about whether a scene is in the exact perfect spot.

What’s inspiring you:
The promise of autumn just around the corner. It’s the time of year I feel most inspired to write, and on my way to work the other day I noticed the leaves were starting to get that look just before the colors start to change, and I am very excited about it.

A goal for the month:
Write at least half of the scenes on my to-do list.

Let’s chat! Feel free to answer all of the questions or just a few. I can’t wait to hear how you’re writing is going this month!

  1. What a fun, cozy idea! I LOVE THIS. And it's great seeing your writing updates! ^_^ Congrats on making your daily writing goals. That's fantastic!

I, too, have been so inspired by fall coming. I guess my brain relates fall to NaNo, because it is my most creative time of year and the plot bunnies have been SWARMING. Currently I'm not working on any big projects, as I finished one earlier in the year and will now probably just wait for NaNo to start another, but I have definitely been dabbling in small things and getting LOTS of inspiration. So things have been good in the creative department. ^_^

    1. YES—the NaNo inspiration is definitely in the air! :D I'm so glad to hear you've been inspired and that things are going well creatively! Have you gotten any particular ideas for NaNo yet?
