What’s your favorite holiday? (Doesn’t have to be one of the “holiday season” ones!)
Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. I just love the whole mood of the holiday and the traditions and the lights and all the cozy things.

What’s your favorite holiday dish/recipe?
I started making coconut bonbons a few years ago to give out as gifts (I’ve used a couple different recipes and am still trying to figure out the “perfect” one), and they’ve been fun to add to the cookies and fudge that my family and I make for Christmas.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? What are they?
When I was growing up, a Christmas Eve tradition was that my dad would read The Night Before Christmas and the nativity story from Luke.

Now that my siblings and I are adults and some of them are married and have kids, it’s kind of become a tradition for all of us to stay at my parents’ house on Christmas Eve. Usually, we’ll watch a movie or a Christmas TV special and finish up any last-minute holiday prep. Then on Christmas morning, we’ll gather around the tree and open presents together.

What is the weather like this time of year where you live?
It’s really all over the place (we’ve had Christmases with snow and Christmases that felt like spring or summer). Most often, it’ll be cool and cloudy.

Do you prefer a minimalist approach to decorating for Christmas or do you Decorate All the Things?
I’m usually more of a decorate-all-the-things person, but since we got a late start on decorating this year, my family’s kept things pretty simple. We have our tree in the living room, some Christmas-y signs, garlands, and lights throughout the main rooms and in our yard, and a small tree in my nephews’ toy room. I also decorated my desk a little bit with some fairy lights and Christmas bells in a jar, and a quote on my letterboard.

Do you have any favorite holiday clothing/accessories?
It’s tradition to wear my Santa hat (given to me by my mom). I start wearing it on the first day of December, and wear it everyday through Christmas. I also have an abundance of Christmas-themed socks, and a Buddy the Elf shirt.

Is there a tradition you haven’t started yet but would like to?
I’m not really sure… Most of the traditions I hope to continue are ones my family already started.

What’s on your Christmas movie list/reading list?
I try to reread A Christmas Carol every December, so it’s on my reading list. As for other reading, I’ve just been going through and seeing what potentially Christmas-y titles catch my attention. (I recently finished The Afterlife of Holly Chase, which was a fun twist A Christmas Carol.) I may also try to reread The Enchanted Sonata?

On my watchlist:
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Year Without a Santa Claus

Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer
Christmas Chronicles (both movies)
While You Were Sleeping
Elf
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
✓
Christmas with the Kranks
The Muppet Christmas Carol

Show off your tree/favorite decorations!
We have the Grinch and Max on our tree, as has been tradition since I was little, so those are always favorites. And this year, I found a little black cat ornament made of felt that reminds me of Gryphon.
