W E S T W A R D | Road Trip Diary [Part One]
So back in my August recap, I mentioned that I’d been preparing for an adventure.
I WENT ON A ROAD TRIP!
It was the biggest road trip I’ve ever been on in my life, and my first road trip in way, way too long. And it was amazing. I love to travel and see new places, and a multi-state road trip to places I’ve never been before is something I’ve always wanted to do. The plans for this road trip started last year, and with everything going on in 2020, the possibility of even being able to travel like this was up in the air for a while. But after a lot of preparation and many, many precautions, the road trip was a go!
I’ve never seen windmills like these before, and they were everywhere. Kind of surreal to watch, but calming too. |
After a mishap with our GPS, we ended up slightly off our planned course for the day. But, correcting that took us near to Rocky Ridge, the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family. We didn’t have time to tour inside the house, but the grounds were so peaceful and pretty. Some of the trees were already starting to change to autumn colors, which was beautiful!
Passing through Tulsa. |
We made our way to Kansas, and spent the night in Wichita.
Abraham Lincoln monument overlooking the Lincoln Highway. |
Utah! |
I’ve always heard that Montana is a beautiful state, and it truly is. I’ve fallen in love with this place!
Closing out this very full day of travel, we stayed in Helena, Montana. And after that, we made our way to Yellowstone!
Oh wow! What a beautiful, refreshing sounding trip!!! I'm so glad it worked out that you still got to go. And MONTANA YES. I went there alllll the way back when I was just 9 years old, but to this day I still remember much of it. It was like my favorite state to ever visit. It's such a gorgeous place! I'm so happy you got to visit it.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about the rest of your adventure! :D
