Time Travelin’: Remembering WWII 2016

This past Saturday, I was able to travel to Linden, Tennessee for their Remembering WWII event. I’d never been a reenactment/living history event before, so it was an entirely new experience for me. I had so much fun!

The Road Trip Journal makes a comeback.

Throughout the day, there were different speakers and musical acts, as well as reenactments. The whole town was decked out in 1940s flair—even the people—and it was fabulous! Music played on the stages and throughout the town, including some of my favorites from the ’40s. It was like stepping into history for a few hours.

I didn’t take as many photos as I expected to, but here are a few snapshots from the day:

One of the planes flying over during the afternoon.
Loved the vintage storefronts. Some looked like bakeries and cafes, too!
Another fly-over during the Veterans’ Parade.
Beginning of the reenactment...
...and the battle’s over!

That evening, there was a USO-style concert and fireworks, but unfortunately my pictures didn’t turn out very great from it, so I have none to share here. But it was a very fun evening of great music from the band and the singers, including the Boyer Sisters and Lacey Bowman. It was one of my favorite things about the event!

Another favorite thing was getting the chance to hear the stories of some of the WWII veterans who were in attendance. It was amazing to hear about what their lives were like before, during, and after the war and to have a chance to meet and thank them.

  1. This look so cool. And I'm dying that they had a Captain America poster X'D

    1. It was amazing! (There actually were cosplayers there as Cap and Peggy, too...) ^_^
