Farewelling Autumn
At some point, though I’m unsure exactly when, autumn became my favorite season. I don’t have a least favorite, but there is something about autumn, about the way the leaves and the light change and the air begins to take on a chill that I adore.
“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”
- F. Scott Fittzgerald
This autumn has followed the pattern of much of the year, in that it is a season of changes beyond the weather and the trees. Some of those changes are small, but many are not, and some are only just on the horizon. It has been an introspective season, and a season of looking forward while looking back, of balancing grief and hope sometimes in the same breath.
So as the last of the leaves have drifted to the ground and the cold settles in with snow flurries, I am trying to let all the many different emotions and thoughts have their space. I like to think I am better at this than I used to be!
“It’s just my favorite time of year. The whole world changes color.”
- Gilmore Girls

This autumn rushed past for me too!
ReplyDeleteAnd my favorite season is winter. I love the holidays, the nostalgia, and the food!
The nostalgia this time of year is definitely one of my favorite things too!
