Hello, January | January 2018

The new year is off to a pleasant start, with plenty of restful days and the excitement of all the adventures in store! It’s been nice to have a calm month to figure out new plans and goals and to reflect on all of last year’s memories.
WRITING

Behold, the grand attempt at a character doodle! ;P
Even more TAD2 writing.
This one has stuck to its schedule so far and seems on track. I’m enjoying digging into new elements of some of the characters and hoping this is an installment that doesn’t disappoint. Sequels are hard, y’all.
BLOGGING
I’ve been tidying up the blog pages a bit this month, and hope to finish that in February. And there’s now a blog button on the sidebar!

ON THE BLOG

AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE
This was a fun look at ways to improve how homeschooled characters are portrayed in stories. As a homeschool graduate, I think it would be cool to see more than just the same homeschooler stereotypes make it into fiction!

I really enjoyed this comparison of standalones and series. Definitely a good list of pros and cons to check out!

Mentors are some of my favorite characters, though writing them so that they don’t seem tropey can be a challenge. This list has some cool ideas on how to make the cliché unique!
LIFE
Snow!
It was nice to sit by the fireplace and play games with family and read. It was also a great opportunity for snapping some photos!

Reading.
This month, I’ve completed four books. The first was Beren and Luthien—which I loved! I’ve also been rereading the Abram’s Daughters series with my mom, and I’m currently on the fourth book. I’ve also started Spindle by W.R. Gingell.

Watched the Super Blue Blood Moon!
While the area where I live was not a good viewing place for the eclipse part, it was still cool to watch it through the NASA livestream!

Created a media journal.
I like how bullet journals have different trackers for books, movies, and TV shows. Since I’m not looking to start a bullet journal right now (I already have a planner at the moment), I still wanted a way to track movies and stuff through the year. So, I used a mini comp book to make tracker pages for shows, movies, and podcasts!
How was your January? Are you having a good new year so far? Any favorite blog posts? Did you watch the Super Blue Blood Moon? Tell me in the comments!

    1. Thank you! It's kind of fun to have a little look back over each month and see how the year's going. :)

      *hugs* Thanks, dearie!

I really enjoyed seeing how Tolkien's vision of the story changed with each draft! The poetic versions ended up being my favorites and made it a good wintry read. I'd love to know what you think of it when you read it!

      Have an awesome February!
