Goodbye, December | December 2019

And so we come to the last day of the year. I’m planning to stay up until midnight, with a good book and maybe some TV. How are you spending New Year’s Eve?
I finished the first draft of The Unlikely Adventure of Felix McKay!
I’d hoped to finish it within the first week of December but it took a little longer than that, but that’s okay. It was a fun challenge to write something new and so different!

Took a writing break.
The rest of the month has been a break from writing, though I’ve scribbled some ideas down from time to time. After spending most of the year working on various projects, it’s a little weird not to be actively working on anything at the moment, but the mental rest and creative recharge was needed and I’m excited to be back to writing in January!

Several neat tips for working towards new goals!

A lovely set of wintery, holiday names.
All the Christmas things!
I went to the local Christmas parade with my mom and Nephew One, went to the church Christmas program and dinner, watched a few of my favorite Christmas movies, reread A Christmas Carol, and basically did as many of the usual Christmasy traditions and things as possible. ^_^

On Christmas Eve, my youngest brother, sister-in-law, and Nephew Two came over to spend the night, as is tradition (so all my siblings and both nephews were here!), and then on Christmas morning we opened gifts together. Christmas evening, we hosted dinner for my mom’s side of the family, and everyone had a great time.

Setting up a reading journal.
Back in my teens, I kept track of the books I read so I’d know how many I’d read in a year, but fell out of the habit a few years ago when I misplaced the notebook I was using. Anyways, I’ve been seeing so many cool reading and book journals online and decided a new year was the perfect time to try keeping a reading journal again!

My first livestream!
I did my first livestream ever on Instagram to read the first chapter of The Pursuit of Merriment! It was a bit nervewracking at first because I’m not used to doing much video stuff, but it was fun too. I may even try to do more video things in 2020. Maybe. *chuckles nervously*
Are you excited for the new year? How was your Christmas?

  1. I'm starting a reading journal too! Last year, I just added my reading lists to my bullet journal, but I wanted something separate so I can include my thoughts of the book, quotes, or even a rating. (I'm always back and forth on whether I care about rating books because it often seems pointless.) I'm excited to see how you set yours up, if you decide to share! :)

    1. Ooh, yay! I'm hoping to keep track of mini reviews as well, but hadn't thought of including quotes! I'd love to see how you're setting up your journal as well!

      Happy New Year!
