October Adventures | October 2018

October was a month of adventures and surprises, and while some of its happenings were scary, overall it was a month of happy moments and beautiful days.
NaNoWriMo prep.
I feel prepared for next month’s writing frenzy, and I’m super excited about this draft of Unto Ash. If you’re participating in NaNo next month, let’s be writing buddies!

AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE
Christine started a new linkup for writing projects, with the first part launching this month. The next two will take place in November and December!

I’ve read an earlier version of this story and am so excited to read this one. (Lightless releases today in paperback and ebook!)

A fun look at elements that make a story great!
Going to a concert with my mom.
Growing up, I listened to a lot of country music and one of my favorite bands was Shenandoah. I never expected to see them in concert so finding out they were having a show with Restless Heart at a venue we could go to was a nice surprise! It was such a fun show, and both bands sounded absolutely amazing! (And they played all my favorites. ^_^ )

Learning how to weave with twine.
One Saturday afternoon, my mom taught me how to repair one of our outdoor chairs with twine. It’s been years since I last practiced weaving, and even then it was smaller projects made with yarn, so this was a fun skill to pick up and relearn!

Book-hunting at library sales.
There was a pretty great box sale going on at the library this month, and I confess I went to it a couple of times… My bookshelves did not appreciate it, but I acquired a nice selection of books. Mostly, I picked up some nonfiction and biographies, along with a few fiction titles and poetry collections.

Doing all the fall things!
A couple of family outings to a corn maze and a fall festival, and an evening by the fire pit, made for some Octobery fun.

Tell me about your October! Go to any fun fall or Halloween events? Are you participating in NaNoWriMo next month?
