Novel Plot Week Recap | October 2018

So overall, this year’s NaNo prep has been going well! There were a few things I did not complete during last week’s novel prep, but I was able to put in a good amount of work on it and have a nice place to start when November arrives.

I worked on character notes and plotted out half the story events. This draft will introduce some new characters, so I needed to update my list of characters to reflect that.

I was able to finish up the plot notes for the other half of the story. Still feeling conflicted about a few of them, so those may change later.

Worldbuilding is not my greatest writing strength, so today was a little daunting. I had a good amount of stuff from writing the first draft of Unto Ash in 2016 though, so I was able to use a lot of that and build out from there, and I like what I have so far. I also worked on putting notes into the Scrivener file for this draft.

Research day! One of my characters is a healer, and one of the MC’s spends some time working with them, so I wanted to do a little more research regarding that. I also researched weaponry things for another character.

I brainstormed some ideas for scenes and updated the writing playlist.
How are your NaNo preparations coming along?

  1. I so admire you for being able to plot a whole novel in just a week! I spend ALL of October plotting my NaNo novel and still never get it as fully done as I'd like. XD I need your skills!

But I LOVE the idea of your novel plot week. Such a fun concept of working on one aspect of plotting for each day. Congrats on surviving the week! Can't wait to hear more about this story! :D

    1. Reality is, if I don't work on it in a short, set amount of time, I probably won't get the plotting done at all before NaNo gets here! Hehehe. (And I can never seem to be quite so organized in novel prep any other time of the year!) Having a theme to each day makes it a lot easier to stay focused though. :D

  2. I always love seeing how your novel plot weeks go! Sounds like this one went pretty well! I'm behind on all things NaNo prep so maybe I should try to spend this last week doing something similar... =)

    1. It did! I think I have a fair amount of stuff to start this draft with, and I've been updating and files and things this week too, so hopefully things will be in place by November 1st!

Best wishes for your NaNo prep!
