The Get to Know Me Tag | Writer’s Edition

A couple months ago, Christine tagged me for the Get to Know Me Tag! Thanks for sending it my way! :D

S T A T S  &  A P P E A R A N C E
NAME/NICKNAMES
Jameson. I have a lot of nicknames, but the most common is Jamie.

HAIR COLOR/LENGTH
Dark brown (…with quite a bit of silver and white). In the summer, it has pinkish-red highlights in the sun, which I love. It’s a little longer than shoulder-length now.

BRACES/PIERCINGS/TATTOOS
I’ve been meaning to get my ears repierced for a while but haven’t yet.

F I R S T S
FIRST NOVEL WRITTEN/COMPLETED
That would technically be my NaNo 2009 project, even though it was a very short novel. My first longer novel was the rewrite of a fantasy story.

AWARD FOR WRITING
I won third place for a short story in a regional student competition once!

FIRST PUBLICATION
The Assassin’s Daughter is my first “official” publication. Though, you might count The Pursuit of Merriment as well, since I posted it on Wattpad before TAD was published.

CONFERENCE
Rose Glen Literary Festival in 2016. It’s a smallish conference but I attended two workshops and really enjoyed them.

QUERY/PITCH
I sent a query letter once. As far as query letters go, it wasn’t terrible but the novel it queried was far from ready—so I stopped.

I’ve also submitted a couple of short stories over the years, and entered the Rooglewood Five Magic Spindles contest.

F A V O R I T E S
NOVEL (THAT YOU WROTE)
Goodness, that’s a tough question. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE?

Really, each story has its own special place in my heart and I don’t know that I can pick only one.

GENRE
To write? Fantasy!

I tend to read in phases of what happens to look most interesting to me at the time.

AUTHOR
Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Marissa Meyer, and plenty of others!

WRITING MUSIC
This varies by project since I have playlists for most of my WIPs (You can check out shorter versions of some of them on Spotify). I’ve been listening to a lot of instrumental stuff lately too.

TIME TO WRITE
Evenings and night.

WRITING SNACK/DRINK
Peanut butter cups. I try to drink a lot of water while I’m writing but sometimes I have soda or tea instead.

MOVIE
I have too many to choose just one...

CHILDHOOD BOOK
The first books that come to mind are the fairy tale bedtime storybooks my parents bought when I was really small. I don’t remember what they were but they were some of my favorites for read-alouds. Dear Mr. Henshaw was probably one of the first books I read on my own that really stands out as having been a favorite when I was younger.

READING

WRITING
TAD2 is my main WIP at the moment. I’m also working on the last scenes of my Camp NaNo project, Starsong, and I’m hoping to finish the first draft this month.

LISTENING TO
Writing playlists, mostly. Bright Eyes season two and a couple other podcasts, too.

WATCHING
I recently finished season two of Anne with an E and just started season six of Parks and Recreation. I’ve also been watching Alone and Forged in Fire on History Channel.

F U T U R E
INDIE OR TRADITIONAL
I’m currently indie, but I really like the idea of being a hybrid author as well...

WILDEST GOAL
Writing-wise, I used to dream about having a Best-selling Author tag to accompany my name on book covers. ;D

In other things, I kind of want a tiny(ish) house.
T A G G I N G
I’m not sure who has already done this tag, so I’ll leave it open. Feel free to join the fun and share a link to your answers!
