Snippets | July 2018

This month, I’m sharing snippets from my Camp NaNo project, Starsong! It’s been fun to write so far, and I’m close to finishing the first draft. If you’d like to learn a little more about it, check out this Twitter thread, my Instagram highlights, or my Facebook page!
“You’re being poetic and sentimental again, sir.”
“I suppose I am, but if anything is worthy of such behavior, I’d say the sky is.”
Nadya hated herself for not being able to make her smile feel anything more than forced.
“It’s so easy to lose track of time…in this place.” His dark eyes avoided the walls that trapped them both, the lack of windows and the absence of natural light and sky and his beloved stars.
She wanted to tell him he was wrong, that this was more than the obsession of an idea or project, that this was something more than a problem Chontecleare was making himself. She wanted to argue this—and she wanted it to be the truth. But the words stuck in her throat and threatened to choke her when she tried to speak them, so she slumped in the chair with a sigh that sounded too much like a sob for her liking, and looked at the rows of books behind the desk.

This whole story idea sounds absolutely amazing. I've been soaking up the aesthetics and tidbits you've been sharing around social media. It's such a pretty book!
