The Bibliophile Sweater Tag

Christine from Musings of an Elf tagged me for the Bibliophile Sweater Tag!
THE RULES

1.) Give the person who tagged you a never-ending supply of cookies (or just thank them - either works).
2.) Answer all the questions and use the blog graphic for this tag somewhere in your post (the original graphic is above).
3.) Pass along the tag to at least five other people.
4.) Wear a sweater (okay, this is optional...but why wouldn’t you want to??)
THE TAG

FUZZY SWEATER
(a book that is the epitome of comfort)
Choosing only one book for this was tough, but At Home in Mitford seemed like a good fit. It’s been a long time since I read this series (and I still need to read the newer installments), but when I think of cozy books, these always come to mind.

STRIPED SWEATER
(book which you devoured every line of)
Another tough choice, but All the Truth That’s in Me is one that’s always difficult to put down. Even though I’ve read it several times, the writing style is really engaging. And, while often dark and a bit strange at times, the plot is a page-turner.

UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER
(book with a weird cover)
The cover was the entire reason I bought this book. I’ve never seen another one like it! But this ended up being one of my favorite classic reads (and it does look pretty cool on my shelf).

CASHMERE SWEATER
(most expensive book you’ve bought)
I had a slight discount on Winter (yay, bookstore memberships!), but I think it’s the most I’ve paid for a new book. Totally worth it.

HOODIE
(favorite classic book)
I have so many favorite classics, but Pride and Prejudice won this round.
CARDIGAN
(book that you bought on impulse)
Prior to spotting these at a thrift store, I’d never heard of Miss Match or its sequels. A quick glance over the first pages had me hooked. (Now I just need to get the matching edition of the third book...)

TURTLENECK SWEATER
(book from your childhood)
The Dear America books were some of my favorites growing up, and this was the first book of the series I ever read. A Line in the Sand was also the first title I ever borrowed from a library, so it holds a special place in my nostalgic heart.

HOMEMADE KNITTED SWEATER
(book that is indie-published)
I haven’t read the final version of this book yet, but I’m looking forward to it after I reread Volume One

V-NECK SWEATER
(book that did not meet your expectations)

Oh, my. I wanted to love this book but it just didn’t meet expectations. I liked Renegades, but I wasn’t as invested in the characters or plot quite as much as with Marissa Meyer’s other works. Still, the cover is fabulous and taking pictures of it is fun. LOOK AT THAT BLUE. *heart eyes*

ARGYLE SWEATER
(book with a unique format)
I don’t own very many books with unique formatting, but I do like how The Book Thief incorporated images alongside the words to add that extra bit of feels.

POLKA DOT SWEATER
(a book with well-rounded characters)
Choosing only one book for this was really tough! There are so many books that fit, but I chose Cress because I love how it finally brings (most) of the characters together and shows how far they’ve all come in such a short time.

  2. YOU DID THE TAG!!! :D This was so fun to read!

Oh, the Mitford books! My mom LOVES those. I've never read them, but they do sound so cozy and fun. ^_^ I've never read All the Truth That’s in Me but it looks intriguing for sure!

Whoa. That War of the Worlds cover IS unique! I've never seen that edition before. I don't blame you for snatching it up. It's so cool!

I read some of the Dear America books when I was little! They were so fascinating.

A lot of people are saying Renegades wasn't that great and it's making me sad. I haven't read it yet, but I got it for Christmas and am looking forward to reading it, but I'm wary. Ah well, we'll see!

YES TO CRESS! My favorite of The Lunar Chronicles books! All those characters were just the BEST!!!

Thanks for doing the tag! I love your bookish posts. ^_^

    1. My mom introduced me to the Mitford series when I was in my teens and I fell in love with them! They're the perfect kind of book for when you want to get lost in a good read but not spend the whole book wondering if they survive. (Though they're not without intense/sad moments!)

I love the bright colors of The War of the Worlds, even though they are a weird combination! I'm not sure if it was part of a special series or just this title...

Did you have a favorite of the Dear America books?

I feel kind of bad for not liking Renegades as much as I'd hoped but it was still fun—especially the superpowers! I'd love to hear what you think of it when you read it. :) (And Cress is a hard book to beat. ;D )

Thanks for the tag! It was so much fun!

  3. Awww, thanks for tagging me! This looks like such fun. :] I loved ALL your answers. And the Dear America series always tugged my heart strings. I was really intrigued by All the Truth That's in Me also. . . And that's too bad about Renegades! I was hoping that would be good. . . Thanks again, Jameson!!

    1. It really was a lot of fun!

So many of those books broke my little bookworm heart. (A Line in the Sand being one of them!) When I was younger I thought it would be fun to write one one day, but...I haven't. Did you have any favorites?

All the Truth That's in Me is an intriguing one! A little darker than what I normally read but still good. With Renegades, I think I set my expectations a little too high for it but it still had some fun elements to it. :)

  4. Thanks for tagging me! This looks like fun! I read some of the Dear America books when I was younger too. I always thought they were a great way to learn a little about history.

    1. Ooh, yes! One of my favorite things to do was find ones that fit with the time period I was studying—and thankfully, my library had a pretty great collection of them! :)
