Novel Plot Week: October 2017 Recap

It’s the end of Novel Plot Week, and most of my NaNo prep plans! I can’t say that I stuck to the schedule very well this year, or that I accomplished all that I wanted to in regards to NaNo prep, but I did get a few things done that I really wanted to, so that definitely counts for something.

Here’s a recap of the week:

Monday: Characters
My two main characters finally decided on some first names, which is really helpful. I’m not sure if they’ll stick but they’ll work for now.

Yep.
I also figured out backstory details for both MCs, my antagonist, and one very prominent secondary character, and how the characters are connected to others.

Tuesday: Plot
The idea of using a chapter outline is already trying to fail me, y’all.

I have a list of scene ideas and plot points, but I’m still seeing where they fit into the story. I have my first line ideas, as well as most of the opening chapters planned and key points in the end. The middle will be more of a playground for my brain to play in and follow the characters on their own little detours, so it should be fun.

(It looks like there will be at least one car chase though. It’s been a while since I wrote one of those!)

Wednesday: Setting/Worldbuilding
This is a work-in-progress. I have a feeling I’ll be discovering most of the world as the story unfolds, though I do have notes for major locations.

Thursday: Research
Um. Pretty much all of my writing energy on this day went into TAD2, but I am okay with that.

Friday: Miscellaneous
I brainstormed more scenes and plot things. I also have a playlist made, so if all else fails, at least my characters can have more than one dancing scene, right?

Overall, I have a lot of what I usually need in order to start a story already in place, so I think  this Novel Plot Week was pretty successful. I have a lot to build on during the drafting phase next month, so we’ll see how it turns out!
EEP! NaNoWriMo is almost here! Are you prepared? No? Tell me all about it!

  1. Congrats on getting so much plotting done! :D And ooooh, a car chase scene. FUN! The novels I always write end up in worlds that don't have cars, so I never get to write exciting things like that. Lol. Your novel just sounds so fun!

I think I AM actually prepared for NaNo. :O I've got my outline done and everything, and am starting to catch up on life stuff so my plate will be mostly clear once NaNo gets here. I'm getting pumped!!!

Happy NaNo'ing! We're gonna have an amazing time! :D

    1. Thanks! :)

It's definitely a scene I'm looking forward to! At least one of the characters is going to have a lot of fun with it, so I'm excited to see how it plays out.

Wow! That's so awesome! November's usually a busy month around here, but I've been trying to catch up stuff beforehand too. I can't believe it's already so close!

      Best NaNo wishes!

  2. Well done on this plotting thing! Your story sounds great!! I've never attempted a car chase. . . (Like Christine's, I suppose that's due to my stories being set in their own worlds. . . heheh). How exciting!!

    1. Thank you so much! ^_^

I've only ever written one, but they're so much fun! I'm excited about seeing how the scene plays out and how the characters react. :)
