Snippets | July 2017

As mentioned a couple of posts ago, I’ve been working on two projects this month. The main one is TAD2, which I’m feeling pretty good about at the moment. I’m a little behind where I wanted to be by now, but sometimes that’s how things go, isn’t it? As for Sasha, the first draft is turning out better than expected, though there are things I already plan to change in the second.

Show nothing and read everything. Simple words she’d heard Bayor say a hundred times. But they were difficult to practice when she was already reeling, already uncertain, already lost.
- TAD2 -
Tucked away somewhere in his memories were the images of parties like this, when he’d been too young to be anything more than an observer on the dais, seated between his parents. He’d loved the swirl of the colors and the rise and fall of the music. He’d been too young to know of the bargains being made with his life, the guesses about what kind of king he would be.
- The Drowning of Sasha Ethandrix -
Imprisonment and execution loomed over his shoulders like shadows these days.
- TAD2 -
He hopped down from the fence rungs and tucked his hands in his coat pockets. “Looks like we have a visitor.”
Dellia turned, following his gaze to the dusty road to find the same silhouette there that had stood in the kitchen doorway this morning.
- The Drowning of Sasha Ethandrix -
He couldn’t look at anything other than the paper on the table. The name written in black ink alongside so many others that listed his crime as something so much more sinister than it was. An act of treason and malice. Not…not the truth.
- TAD2-
“Why did you do it?” He’d planned ways to start this confrontation, but the unsteady question was not among them. He wanted his voice to be strong, steady, not a shaking timbre escaping his control.
- The Drowning of Sasha Ethandrix -
He retreated a step and held up his hands. “I imagine making friends is one of your best skills?”
  “Shut up.”
- TAD2 -
