Hello, Fall! | September 2016

September, what a fun-filled month it’s been! Most of the month was incredibly hot but this week the temp started dropping and it finally feels like autumn has arrived.

* Traveled so much.
The month kicked off with an epic road trip to Shiloh (recapped here, here, and here), which was totally worth the nine years of dreaming. And on the 24th, my mom, sister, aunt, and I took a trip to Linden for Remembering WWII. It was also an amazing trip, recapped here.

The mileage for the two road trips combined was somewhere in the area of 2,000.

* I finished my Middle-earth reread.

It took me much longer than planned, but I had a really good writing month which kept distracting me from reading. For this reread, I finished The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

* Completed the first draft of Roguess!
This book just kept surprising me, but now the draft is done! I even posted snippets! I’m currently on a writing break for the next week or so to recover from it though.

* Got beta reader feedback for The Assassin’s Daughter!
I’ll be returning to that project in October. I haven’t really looked at it since sending it out, so...

* Participated in #WIPjoy again.
For this round, I featured Roguess. This was the first time I’ve participated while actively writing a first draft, so that was fun.

* Started my new blog series.
It’s still in its “baby” phase, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to toss them my way! I want to make them interesting for you all to read. :)

* Won an ARC of Heartless!
IT’S SO PRETTY. I’ve never gotten an ARC before. So far, I like what I’m reading.

* Planning out this year’s Novel Plot Week.
I’ll only be doing one this October, but I still have quite a bit to prepare for this year’s NaNo novel. More details will be coming up on the blog!

 Tell me about your September! Are you ready for fall? Are you participating in NaNo? What are you reading?

  1. OOH, that ARC is BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait until I can get my hands on Heartless :D.

    1. It's good! I still like The Lunar Chronicles best, but Heartless was intriguing and a unique take on Wonderland. The worldbuilding and the characters were so great. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you read it. :)

  2. It sounds like you had an amazing month! I'm glad you had so much fun on your road trips! And yay for completing your draft! September was a bit of a blur for me, lots of revising, I finished the second draft of my completely rewritten first book I ever wrote (that sounds more complected than it is), and it gave me all kinds of problems but I'm just glad to have finished it. And also, of course I'm excited and ready for fall! I'm so happy, leaves have started to change colors and fall here, it's so nice. =)
    Hope you have another great month, Jameson!

      The colors here started changing over the weekend and it's definitely fall now! :)

  3. Ooooh, jealous of your Heartless ARC! I hope it's amazing. :) And also congrats on finishing your Tolkein reread spree. Those books take forever, so all my applause goes to you.
