Writer's Life Tag

This one is from Shay @ The Story Goes

The Questions:

Write-fuel: What do you eat/drink while writing?
Chocolate is nice to have around, but not always available. I usually drink water or soda while writing.

Write-sounds: What do you listen to while writing?
Music-wise, a mix. Most of my projects have a playlist. Sometimes I have a movie or show playing in the background instead.

Write-vice: What’s your most debilitating distraction?
My phone. It’s currently my primary access to the internet, so it’s way too easy to pick it up and start checking social media rather than write…

Write-horror: What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you while writing?
I was in the middle of a scene and the computer rebooted without saving. (And that’s the story of how I started writing my stories down.)

Write-joy: What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you while writing, or how do you celebrate small victories?
Those moments when the pieces of a story fall into place and everything makes sense. Or when a scene turns out just like I’d imagined.

Write-crew: Who do you communicate with or not communicate with while writing?

Mostly my family. My mom and sister get to hear me rant and ramble about characters and plot problems all the time.

Write-secret: What’s your writing secret to success or hidden flaw?
Setting time limits. I love having several hours to write, but even if I have that luxury, I’ve learned it’s best for me to work in smaller increments (10-15 minutes).

Write-spiration: What always makes you productive?
Hm… If I’m feeling really excited about a story or characters, I tend to find it easier to write and usually write more.

Write-peeve: What’s one thing writers do (or you do) that’s annoying?
I procrastinate more than I should. (I’m getting better about this though.)

Write-words: Share one sentence from a project, past or present.

This one is from The Assassin’s Daughter:

Delest pressed his back against the wall and thanked the shadows that hid him from view.

  1. Thanks for the tag! I'll try to have it done in the coming week. :-D
That is a horror, and shows that no matter how great technology can seem to be, it's not always best. Though I admit I find typing my tales a whole lot more easy than writing them.
And I think that's an intriguing excerpt!

  2. I drink a lot of water while writing, too. :D And also, the Internet... Goshdarn Internet. GOSHDARN INTERNET. Also, procrastinating and time mis-management... yeah... Those things go out the window real fast. Thanks so much for tagging me!

  3. Oh, what an awesome tag! Thank you soooo much for passing it my way. I'm totally going to have to do this one sometime. I love it! THANK YOU!!! <333

Loved reading your answers. My phone is also so distracting. I always keep it beside me when I'm on the computer and it's so tempting to pick it up and just...check that...one...thing... I should probably put it somewhere out of my reach while writing. XD
