A Snippets Post

I’ve mentioned a few times that I’ve been working on a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, which I’m hoping to have ready to submit to the Five Magic Spindles contest later this year. Today, I’ll be sharing just a few snippets from the recently-completed second draft. Hope you enjoy them!

Had I known the outcome of my actions would lead to such a lonely fate, I might have reconsidered them. Was my freedom worth all of Sinnovia’s? And what kind of freedom did they have now anyway?

“I wouldn’t say I discovered their secrets,” he replied, turning to face me.

“What will you do now?” I asked as I sat down and took a cup of tea.

“I’ve been thinking about all of this,” he offered into the pause. “Maybe it’s an absurd idea, but I think I have figured out something about what’s going on. Why they’re here.”

Around us, the fire flickered, the morning continued, and someone at the front of the room spilled their drink and swore. At our table, I leaned forward in my chair and held my breath. “Tell me then.”

“Your Majesty.” He swept into the most formal of bows when she entered the room. “I hate to disturb you at this hour, but I felt the matter could not wait.”

    1. Thank you! I had to pick some that were fairly vague because of spoilers, but I'm glad you liked them! :)

  2. These are so intriguing! And cruel! I want more! =)

The first is my favorite because it leaves me with just a hint at what's going on, and what's going on seems very intense and epic. Thanks for sharing!

P.s. Am I crazy or did you update your blogs look?

    1. Thanks so much! I tried to pick some really interesting ones without giving too much away. Glad you liked them! :)

I did change the look. :) I had some trouble with some of the links with the image host I use, so I went for a more text-based theme this time. What do you think of it?
