The 777 Writing Challenge

I was tagged for this challenge by Christine @ Musings of an Elf. Thanks so much, Christine! :)

Rules:

Go to page 7 of your work-in-progress, scroll down to line 7, and share the next 7 lines in a blog post. Once finished, tag 7 bloggers to do the writing challenge themselves on their own blog.

I’ll be sharing a snippet from my book, The Assassin’s Daughter. (I’m using one sentence for each “line,” if that works.) This snippet comes from the second chapter:

Still, sometimes the sight of this place felt like the heaviest weight a person could carry, and she was just too small to bear it as well as the others.
Kat parted ways with Ed and Bayor and began the short walk to her dormitory building. She paused a moment in the empty foyer and peered through the doorway on her left, into the unoccupied den.
With quiet, soft steps, she ascended the stairs. The long practice of walking without being heard was a difficult habit to break. Too often, she had found herself sneaking through the dormitory as if she were a trespasser. After all these years, these rooms should have been familiar territory, should have offered some small level of belonging, and yet she still traversed them as she had the day she’d been brought here.

I'm nominating:

Sarah @ Sarah, Plain and Average
Heather @ Sometimes I’m A Story
Ana @ Butterflies of the Imagination
And anyone else who would like to do this tag!

AND YOUR SNIPPET. That is perfect! So intriguing. And the writing, it's so well executed and clear and polished. I can see you have talent just from those few sentences. That first sentence is golden. Keep it up! This is awesome! :D

*blushes* Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed the snippet! I was a bit worried it might be a little boring, since it's more of a transition scene. And thank you so much!
